In 2024, the Anne & Gene Worrell Foundation Board of Directors adopted a new grantmaking strategy prioritizing programs in three geographic areas. The Foundation had an increase in available grantmaking dollars and made more significant investments in grantee partners.

    • 100 Black Men of Central Virginia: $20,000 to support the M-Cubed and High School Scholars programs.

    • Albemarle Housing Improvement Program: $334,000 to support the rehabilitation of homes in the Greater Charlottesville Area.

    • All Blessings Flow, Inc.: $30,000 to support All Blessings Flow's Rural Outreach Project Manager and Community Engagement Coordinator positions.

    • Bennett's Village: $15,000 to support Bennett's Village's capital campaign for an all-abilities playground in Pen Park.

    • Virginia Highlands Community College Educational Foundation: $200,000 to support the construction of the Paramont Applied Technology & Workforce Center.

    • Virginia Humanities: $40,000 to support a regional humanities center at UVA Wise.

    • Horizon Health Services, Inc.: $224,000 to support the expansion of the Family Practice unit at Horizon Health Services' Surry County office.

    • Preservation Virginia: $134,000 to support preservation and interpretive work at Smith's Fort.

    • The Nature Conservancy in Virginia: $160,300 to support The Nature Conservancy's Virginia Pinelands Program.

    • George C. Marshall Research Foundation: $10,000 to support the participation of teachers from the Anne & Gene Worrell Foundation's Greater Charlottesville Area and Far Southwest Virginia coverage areas in the George C. Marshall Research Foundation's Teachers Institute.

    • Miller Center Foundation: $750,000 to support the Obama Oral History project.

    • University of Virginia School of Medicine: $200,000 to support the clinical care of epilepsy patients in the Greater Charlottesville Area and Southwest Virginia.

The Foundation does not accept unsolicited proposals. Instead, we have a dedicated team of professionals who work with our Grants Committee to identify potential grantees. We look for organizations whose work matches our investment priorities and who have proven capacity to effectively steward funds and achieve results.
